IELTS exam in Poland, UAE and Iran – December 2010 (Academic Module)
IELTS exams given in Poland, UAE and Iran appear to be the same, according to J, N and H who collectively remembered the following:
Listening test
Section 1. Making a reservation in a hotel for someone’s conference / party.
Questions: short answer questions (one word only).
Section 2. A teacher and his student were talking about classes.
Section 3. Differences between a business and a job.
Questions: filling in gaps (no more than two words).
Section 4. Don’t remember.
Reading test
Passage 1. About an extraordinary engineer who designed many large ships.
Questions: T/F/NG, multiple choice, 3-4 questions with filling the blanks to complete a summary regarding the last 2-3 paragraphs.
Passage 2. The effect of nitrogen on bays, local beaches in Florida and international beaches.
Passage 3. What science-fiction is, its types and differences between them. How we can differentiate between fiction and science-fiction. 5-6 famous books in this genre were mentioned including their short description.
Questions: matching statements with paragraphs, T/F/NG.
Writing test
Writing task 1 (a report)
We were given one pie chart and one triple-line graph. The pie chart showed the distribution of workforce (of three groups of people – born in Australia, English-speaking and non-English-speaking countries) in percent in 2003. The line graph compared the unemployment rates of those groups between 1993 and 2003.
Writing task 2 (an essay)
As countries develop, more and more people buy and use their own cars. Does the advantage of this for individuals outweigh the disadvantage for the environment?
